From 18 September to 25 October 2026, A.L.I — Alien Language Interface will be presented at Galerie Plateforme in Paris as part of the exceptional group exhibition L’APPARTEMENT. The opening will take place on Friday 18 September, from 6 to 10 p.m., at 73 rue des Haies, 75020 Paris.

An apartment as an encounter space
For its final project after seventeen years of uninterrupted activity, Plateforme presents the third version of L’APPARTEMENT. The installation-performance turns the white cube into a living space, somewhere between a cabinet of curiosities, a furnished interior and a place of hospitality. The works do not merely hang on walls: they coexist, respond to one another and welcome visitors into a changing environment.
This situation directly meets the concerns of A.L.I. An apartment is already an architecture of signs: objects, sounds, books, habits and presences compose a language. Within the exhibition, they become fragments addressed to a human visitor — or, hypothetically, to an intelligence that shares neither our customs nor our codes.
GUDEMON: a radio facing the unknown
I will present GUDEMON, an old radio broadcasting an audio documentary fiction inspired by Orson Welles’s famous 1938 radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds. The story is relocated to the surroundings of Galerie Plateforme: studio voices, witness accounts, interference, scientific commentary and a gradual shift towards the hypothesis of a landing.

GUDEMON does not seek to reproduce a historical hoax. It uses radio as a machine for producing trust: a credible voice, the rhythm of breaking news and a handful of sounds are enough to unsettle the boundary between document, fiction and collective experience. For A.L.I, this ambiguity becomes a question of language: at what point does a signal become a message?

A.L.I Opus 1 available to browse
Beside the radio, visitors will be able to browse A.L.I Opus 1. This book of more than six hundred pages gathers around one hundred LABO articles on interstellar languages, signals, SETI and METI, non-human intelligence, philosophy, anthropology, literature, film, sound art and speculative protocols.
